Daniel’s Diet

“Fast” from the title of the previous post reminded me about this. Can’t believe something so signficant slipped my mind.

This began sometime last year when Hock’s J18 group did this daniel’s diet thing, and all Hock’s disciple whinged through it all lol. What the Daniel’s diet is that it is a 10 day fast where you eat only fruits, vegies and drink water only which simulates the testing period of Daniel and friends rejecting the unclean food but the guard was adamant that they will be well nourished.

Now when I say fruits, vegies and water, I mean ONLY those. So stuff like oil, and salt, dairy, eggs etc was not to be consumed… IT WAS HARD, but I digress and will save that for later in the post.

So 40 hour famine was coming up and Ben, myself and Flic to an extent decided to have this 10 day daniel’s diet to tie into 40 hour famine. But stuff came up so Ben and I started abt 3 days late. But that’s alrite. So we began this diet from about sunday nooon on the 12th of august and finished on wednnesday noon the 22nd.

Believe me it was tough… 10 days never felt so long, foood never tasted soo bland. Doesn’t help that for nearly half of those 10 days I was working in Subway… This diet was probably much tougher than my 72 hour water only fast. Since you’re still eating means that you can be somewhat full, but very unsatisfied. But I guess it was good for my body system and trains me to consider fruits as snack haha

But as soon as I finished my diet, first thing I had was 2 whoppers! And since I was at Subway, I added cheese, bacon and Southwest Chipotle sauce to those burgers… Man that tasted soooooooooooo gooooooooooooood. Amazing how good meat taste.

To make the deal even better, that night Ben and I and Hock’s J18 group went to Hana BBQ for dinner, which is put simply an all you can eat Korean BBQ place where you bbq the meat on a plate on your table. AWESOME, just kept eating and eating and eating. Meat is so good.

If I had the money, I would fly to china just to eat dog… Something about when you don’t eat anything, yuor sense of taste and smell heightens, just imagining how exquisite dog meat would taste just makes my heart go pitter patter.

Another fast week

So the week after my little late saturday night adventures went by just as fast as I ran from aaron’s house to burswood return twice… (which wasn’t very fast or can be very fast… I make no definitive statement on that)

I think here I’ve started to watch lots and lots of Prince of Tennis. Just go and google it, i’ll not waste my breath explaining what sorta show it is. I’m just glad that I never got hooked onto anime when I was in high school or even now, (except for prince of tennis) because I could see myself potentially getting so engrossed into anime that I blur the lines of time and reality.

Because I was hooked onto Prince of Tennis, I let my studies fall by the way side and also my preparation for a sermon that I was to preach that Friday at youth group.

So not to boast (Moses did write in one of the books that he wrote that “Moses is the most humble man”), but the sermon preached was spot on. It’s amazing how God works, dropping the passage He wanted me to preach out on Friday itself. Then opening insight after insight for me only for almost the entire sermon to be confirmed by the music worship and words released before I was to deliver the message just secured that what I was about to deliver was truly from the throne room itself. Nonetheless, I’m still chewing on my own sermon in small bits, I should really get the mp3 from Adriel (kudos for recording ALL Xfyre sermons) and listen to my own voice hahaha.

Nonetheless, God moves. And He moves fast, gotta learn how to chase after Him

Be ready?

Bah! I hate writing a post without a title to flow on. But the show must go on.

So what happened after a touch of heart… Actually it’s more of a culmination of some stuff that happened before smashing a dim sum record that has little bearing on this post

Me and a few others as part of Daniel Bey’s cell were called to join up for our church’s little mini monthly mission to Katanning (mission trip I still find it not appropriate… I’ll save that little discussion for another post in some not to certain time). So the trip was planned for the weekend of August the 10th till the 12th. Preparations started about 2 weeks before thereabouts. And about 3 days before we were going to head off we were informed that the people at Katanning were going to be driving up to Perth as the week after was going to be a holiday for them so they wanted to take advantage of that.

Aside: Katanning is some small town about 300km south east of perth? Basically what is there is an abatoir that has about 70 chinese migrant workers that were employed through some government scheme of which I’m not to sure about. Our church saw it as an opportunity to partner with the local church there and minister and reach out to these people and we have been actively doing this on a monthly basis since about july last year…

Back to it. A huge majority of them were going to come up to Perth, so the pastors overseeing this trip decided to cancel since it was not going to be worthwhile. Felt a bit cut since was getting really excited to go down there. Later on the trip got “moved” to be local to us. So Saturday evening was spent touching base with them. This just highlights to me a mixture of how I don’t operate very well within the comforts of my own environment and touching base with new, unknown people. Again that will be saved for some further posting if that does come to fruit.

SO after a long about way of getting to the point of what I really want to say was that, that Saturday night after touching base with the people from Katanning, is where all the fun started. I went to monique’s 18th since she was having her party that day… nothing to exciting other than the fact that beer from mexico taste like rubbish…. I already know that Corona’s are rubbish and don’t understand why anyone would pay $50+ for a carton of that mexican tapwater, but someone there gave me a bottle of some random mexican beer just supported my hypothesis even further.

Because that was boring I really wanted to bail, and since I was with Aaron and Joni before goign to the party, and in all the nights of the preparations for Katanning we always went out and eat or had something to drink, gave them a call to see what they were doing. So it seems they were at burswood for some drinks for a reason I know not. And now I’ll highlight how good Little Creatures Pale Ale is :D All hail local beer :) After that the general concesus was to go into Northbridge to eat supper, and since Aaron was feeeling the mild effects of alcohol + the near zero tolerance of alcohol for probationary drivers + being a saturday night which means streets infested by cops, i offered to drive him and joni into northbridge and he could leave his car behind in burswood and since his house is quite close by anyways.

We got to northbridge and I had the most awesome parking spot right outside Perth’s miserable excuse of a china town. We ate and was full. On the way back with Aaron and Joni in the car (this is approximately ~2am), somehow the notion of excercising in the night came up, and I think I suggested purely out of zest that we go jogging. Then that idea took weight and we decided to park my car at Aaron’s house and jog to burswood to pick up his car of which should be about a 5-8 min run.

Borrowed shorts, shoes whatever we needed to be comfortable running in. Got to burswood and Aaron’s car. ONLY TO FIND THAT HE LEFT his parking ticket at home. So Aaron and myself left Joni in the car since she looked pretty puffed out whilst we jog back to Aaron’s house to pick up the parking ticket. When we got back, since Aaron left Joni in the car, he left his car keys with her of which in that bunch of keys included his HOUSE KEYS….

So I find myself now alone jogging back to burswood, scaring the lonely Joni in the car, now taking the keys, and running back to aaron’s house, then DRIVING back to burswood to pick up his car. Then finally going home.  I’m a tank, and yes I’m super humble  my calves were sore for the next few days anyways…. been so slack with my excercising, been wasting my gym membership for the past 2- 3 months :(

p/s I guess the general theme of this overall post is be ready for whatever randomness that can be thrown your way (so I’ll use that for my title)
